Barbados Travel Guide - Practical Information
We are very happy to be able to introduce you to Barbados as the host destination of BarbadosSEO.
The conference will take place between 15th and 17th November 2023, and we are very excited to see you all at the O2 Beach Club Hotel & Spa.
Hello!
We’re so excited that you’ll be coming to Barbados for BarbadosSEO. To make it easier for you, we’ve put together all the information you need on how to get there… plus, we’ve added plenty of practical tips on top.
Barbados is one of the many island countries that dot the Caribbean. With an area of 432km2 and a population of 287k, Barbados is a true paradise where beautiful nature and landscapes go hand in hand with the vibrant bajan culture and cuisine – heard of their incredible rum? -, plenty of history and so much to see and do that you’ll never want to leave.
There is just one international airport, the Grantly Adams International Airport, so chances are you are going to fly there. Our average temperatures hover consistently all year round at 25-28 Celsius, so pack warm clothes, sunscreen and be ready to experience bajan hospitality at its best.
We’ll get to some basics first and then move on to the fun bits.
Do I need a Visa to visit Barbados?
Well, that will depend on lots of factors you can find everything you need to know in the Barbados Immigration Guide.
Do I need to be vaccinated to visit Barbados?
Similar to the question above, check the latest official guidance from your country. At the time of writing, on September 22nd 2022, the Government of Barbados announced that there would be no testing requirements to enter the country, whether you’re vaccinated or unvaccinated. Masks will be optional.
Can I enter Barbados?
Again, it depends – especially during and after Covid-19 times – but Visit Barbados has updated information on their Official Travel Protocols Page. Everything is there.
How to get to Barbados
Barbados has just one international airport, Grantly Adams International Airport (IATA Code: BGI). It’s a modern airport that has been named several times as “Caribbean’s Leading Airport” at World Travel Awards. It’s on the south-east of the island, not too far from Bridgetown – the capital of Barbados – and a 20-minute drive to the O2 Beach Club Hotel & Spa, where BarbadosSEO will take place.
There are direct flights from several European and American airports to Barbados:
- From the UK: British Airways, Aer Lingus, Virgin Atlantic
- From the Netherlands (Amsterdam): TUI
- From Germany: Lufthansa
- From the USA: American Airlines and JetBlue
- From Canada: Air Canada and WestJet
The airport is also well connected to other Caribbean islands and Central America via Caribbean Airlines, interCaribbean Airways or Copa Airlines.
Getting Around
Whilst Barbados has quite a user-friendly and comprehensive public transport network, we still think that renting a car or hiring a driver can be more comfortable and convenient if you’re travelling to BarbadosSEO. However, don’t worry too much about it because we will be offering a transfer service for all international guests to take you from your accommodation to the O2 Beach Club Hotel & Spa, where the event will take place.
In case you’re going to extend your stay in Barbados – we would highly recommend it – you’ll find lots of information on how to get around the island here.
Where to stay for BarbadosSEO?
Although we have no favourite hotels, for practicality, we recommend you stay either in the South Coast (closer the O2 Beach Club Hotel & Spa) or on the West Coast (a bit further away and more upmarket). There are lots of great hotels in Barbados but some of the ones we’ve tried and know well are these:
- O2 Beach Club Hotel & Spa
- Courtyard by Marriott Bridgetown, Barbados
- Accra Beach Hotel & Spa
- Hilton Barbados Resort
- Radisson Aquatica Resort Barbados
- Sandy Lane Hotel
- Fairmont Royal Pavilion
- The Lone Star Hotel
- Many more
We can help you get group rates in some of them if you let us know you’re coming to BarbadosSEO.
